I wanted to treat my fiancée to something a little different for her birthday this year. Usually when buying gifts for her, I tend to treat her to jewellery and other romantic presents- but this year I wanted to get one big gift that would truly stand out and be unforgettable, for the two of us. The only problem was that money was tight, as I was saving up for our big romantic holiday together- and finding something unforgettable whilst working on a budget is easier said than done.
Whilst searching online for that perfect present, I decided to look for something outside of the box. She has always said that she wanted to take part in extreme sports and experience lots of the activities on the “things to do before you die” lists. Looking at the activities available to us just a short drive away, I noticed we were incredibly close to a scuba diving centre. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to take on something you don’t get the chance to do everyday. Better still, it was completely within my price range!
I rushed straight onto the Scuba Nation website to see book a place for both of us. It wasn’t a typical birthday present or even a typical romantic experience- but when the two of us were together, it would create a special memory we’d cherish forever. On her birthday morning, when I surprised her with the scuba diving experience, she was smiling from ear to ear. She completely loved the present and couldn’t wait for us to make our way down to the site.
When we got to the dive centre, the staff were all on hand to try and make the day as memorable as they possibly could. They were friendly and up for a laugh, but they went out of their way to help us. The safety briefing and all the diving instructions were easy to follow and also did a good job of building up anticipation before we got in the water. Once we’d changed into our scuba costume, we couldn’t wait to dive in. As soon as we climbed back out an hour later, we were eager to jump straight back in!
This was a great day out and I can’t think of a better way we could have celebrated her birthday. I definitely want to go on more diving adventures now and go even deeper underwater- there is a whole world out there that I’m eager to explore!
